Shawn is a tremendous defensive player, who is skilled at both anticipating passes and making steals and possesses an uncanny ability to block shots despite being only 6'7". A solid offensive player, he is also great ball handler that can bring the ball up on both fast breaks and against presses. Shawn has some of the softest hands around to go along with good footwork in the post.

2000: Was a first-team all-Big West selection... Named the Big West Conference "Newcomer of the Year" by Street & Smith's Basketball Magazine... Tied his season-high with 17 points versus Connecticut in the first round of the NCAA Tournament... Named co-MVP of the Big West Tournament with teammate Troy Rolle... In the three-game Big West Tournament he averaged 9.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, shot 57.1 percent from the field and had nine blocks... Had just one rebound (a seson-low) in first round game with Pacific, but followed that with 10 rebounds against Nevada and nine against New Mexico State in last two games... Named the Big West Conference Player of the Week on Jan. 24 after leading USU to its first conference road sweep in two years... He had 14 points and 10 rebounds versus UC Santa Barbara before notching 16 points, 17 rebounds, five blocks and four steals versus Cal Poly... On the season he averaged 12.0 points, 7.9 rebounds, 58 blocks and 47 steals in 34 games... Also shot 58.1 percent from the field... Lead the team in every category except steals, where he was second... Scored in double figures in 26-of-34 games and had seven double-doubles... Had 10 or more rebounds in nine different games... Also shot 59.2 percent from the field... Durning his 66-game career he recorded 44 double-doubles and was the team's second leading scorer in both his freshman and sophomore seasons...
